just joined! was told i had to go to the warm welcome section as a new girl so just following s&w protocol/etiquette.. credentials are: lucy love, 22, england. 6 month listener, week old forum member, episode 160 and going.. bla bla!

i am basically surrounded by chavs in my town! they are often discussed/questioned on the show, so thought id thought id share with you a true epitomy of a chav. anyone from england will agree this is a great example.. 'The Jeremy Kyle Show'. Its a chat show but without the great fights you americans get on jerry springer. also it will show you the difference between a southern and a northern accent, good luck understanding scottish! although i love it when dee and lance do accents!

Jeremy is the host, he's a complete cock, and almost every guest on the show is a chav... or a crackhead. sometimes we call them 'pikeys', but that is another term for a gypsy here, (who live in caravans, often on public land and pay no f*ing tax).

people have a general view that they are lazy, untrustworthy, jobless criminals, etc, and modern day 'travellers' (gypsies/pikeys) often dress like chavs. but i think thats where the whole association of a chav/pikey with red neck gets confusing. although a female english chav is probably quite similar to the american 'trailer trash/redneck whore' steroetype!
