Anyone used Modalert/Modafinil to stay alert?

Planning to use it to stay alert while studying for some exams I've got coming up. I've tried pseudoephedrine which worked great for staying awake, but it fucked with my concentration and made me sweaty, shaky and cranky - basically the stuff is speed.

Modalert (generic: modafinil) is an anti-narcolepsy drug and the internets claims it will keep you alert without affecting your concentration and in some cases they even claim it is a "mood-brightening and memory-enhancing psychostimulant which enhances wakefulness and vigilance"

Anyway, anyone tried this shit for shift-work or staying up stuying/working?

    Why not just take Adderall?

Interesting. I'm mildly asthmatic so let's see what happens. So far I feel a little weird in the stomach, not enough to be sick though. Kinda like coming up on amphetamines. Come to think of it, this probably belongs in that class anyway. It's doing pretty well on keeping me mentally sharp, but my heart is racing like crazy! Maybe a single dose would have been a better place to start.

Whilst we've got you awake and lucid, maybe now would be a good time to record some audio for the Good old stories podcast?

I thought about it, but knew a few people who said it had similar speed-like side effects to ephedrine. I got a hundred tabs of this stuff through a contact in India for next to nothing so thought I'd try it out.

I'll see how my concentration and mood goes over the weekend and report back in case anyone is remotely interested. I know there are some shift workers who could benefit from an effective drug with minimal side effects.

Sorry Emp, I got a ton of work to get back to. So much so that I am getting zero fun in the sun this weekend. Poor little me. Maybe a cock picture could ease the pain.

You need to get out in the sun for a bit Nicky. I could see your white bits through your clothes in the pictures.

I have tried Piracetam to stay alert at work, suposedly its a nootropic / cognitive enhancer, seems to work ok, makes me feel as though i need to be doing something and have a lot of energy, allthough i wouldnt say it makes me feel any smarter, just able to recall stuff quicker.

Now that is very interesting. I'm definitely going to research nootropics further. I was just looking for something to keep me awake for longer to gain more study time. What I'm doing tends to get dull as hell so I get distracted or sleepy. I'm also no good at staying awake after midnight.

Anyway, yesterday I took 200mg of Modalert at about 3pm. The stuff definitely gave me a serious rush for about two hours, very much like really good coke and mdma mixed, but with no effect to my concentration. For a while I even had that scary, excited feeling you get from amphetamines. Kept me alert for the rest of the day though and awake until about 4am. Trying 100mg today so I can avoid the heavy rush and get to bed at a reasonable hour.
