The Thing is an upcoming science fiction horror film directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr., written by Eric Heisserer, and starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton in the lead roles. It is a prequel to the 1982 John Carpenter film of the same name. Matthijs's film will take place right before the first film, with the original Norwegian crew that discovered the alien.

Dont know is thats the original trailer, and would really like seeing a prequel of The Thing, but am I the only one that has a problem with having a Mediterranean looking woman has a lead role for what was supposed to be an all male Norwegian scientific post in fucking Antarctica?

The only fucking reason they should have put a woman, not to mention a lead role in what is not only incongruity with the original story but actual antarctic expeditions of the time, is to have a monster rape scene, and only nordic male crews being molested would just be gay.

Hot chick, but does not belong to The Thing prequel in what was supposed to be an all male Norwegian scientific outpost in fucking Antarctica. But if she is there verywell be a damn good reason, like her being raped by the alien. It would be no problem if it where a sequel, but there is already a storyline and it does not make sense on a prequel.

I really want to see Mary Elizabeth Winstead get raped and slowly merged into a humanoid The Hills have eyes blog. But Hollywood always disappoints me.

That "Thing" trailer is a re-edited "Whiteout" trailer with a little snippet of a couple other flicks thrown in (I recognized a "Dead Space 2" clip at the end). That said, yeah, it's probably still gonna suck.

I love the original, that was an awesome horror flick. The worst enemy the characters faced was not the monster, but their own paranoia. The monster was all latex & prosthetics, CG didn't exist yet. It still holds up pretty good today.

I bet this prequel sucks.

The version of The Thing you refer to is itself a remake which makes it all the more surprising it was such an excellent movie as remakes almost always suck.
