Thread: The Walking Dead

On one hand this should maybe be in the comics thread but its a TV show now that EVERYBODY should be watching. On AMC, the proprietors of other great shows such as Breaking Bad and Mad Men.

It was originally a comic book chronicling, obviously, the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. The main character, a deputy sheriff, wakes up in the hospital after being in a coma for a few weeks.

The comic is great. Ive got the hardcover versions. Its been going for seven years now and the author said he wants it to go on forever. Which is awesome cause you can so do that with a comic and the apocalypse never ends.

The zombies are awesome. The dialogue and acting is phenom. And the director is the same guy who did The Shawshank Redemption. I mean, the quality of this show is movie. Each episode is an hour long and it comes on before Dexter so you dont have to miss your other favorite Sunday night show. And it has pretty much the same amount of blood. The first scene is the main character putting one between the eyes of a little girl.

The shows in its second week this week but Im sure you can catch a re-run if you really want to. Or just download it.

I dont. Honestly, the first volume was a birthday gift to me last year. So Ive only been privy to the wonderful world of The Walking Dead since then. Over this year Ive gotten the rest of them and indulged. I didnt even know he had anything else. I mean, I assumed but I never got into it.

Im well into my comics, but dont know much about them really if that makes sense, like i dont follow the big name titles or ought, but the only writer who i actively follow and in my view is a great writer, Robert Kirkman, everything he touches is golden really.
He has a refreshing hero title called 'Invincible' thats about a young lad whos dad is superman,and is kirkman all over, just such a good read. Battle pope is funny. chav also is pretty smart, but way short in my opinion.

Also stuff that isnt Kirkman but i think you would enjoy is 'Transmetropolitan' which is about a renegade gonzo journalist who is a drug addled drunk and a total bastard. Also 'Animal Man' which is quite old, and is a rehash of a super old hero, who after a minor accident starts to work out he is actually a comic book character and starts to interact with the reader and takes advantage of being a drawing and soforth. Dont read it when your stoned its fucks you up. thats only 3 books you cold do that in an afternoon. Trans is a bit longer that took a few months for me to scrath through.
