With SOPA and PIPA now shelved, the corporate lobbyists have now found a new way to fuck us over, through the trading agreement ACTA.

And withouts anyone knowledge, the EU just signed it...

I'm apologizing in advance for my ignorance on this subject.

But I have a few questions after reading the whole article and the objections to ACTA,
1) What does it mean for you, in the Sharia land, and the average Sharia land citizen? How will it directly effect you?
2) Has the bill gained any influence in the USA? It's all rather hush as the article said.

Oh boy, its real all right. Thats the worrying part though, no ones heard of this, they've been incredibly quiet about it, secretive really. ACTA plans were first discovered back in 2008 when they were released on Wikileaks, it was later briefly confirmed in 2010 and the US, Australia, South Korea, Japan and Canada all quietly signed it in October 2011. They've kept it this quiet as it is classified as a "trading agreement" not a copyright law, thats how its slipped under the radar... Sneaky fuckers.

I'm still trying to fully understand it, because as usual the bills covered with bullshit. But from what i've so far deduced it will essentially be another SOPA, it will require ISPs to moniter your internet activity to ensure you're not downloading any copyrighted content. Or "intellectual property" as they like to refer to it. If you get caught with copyrighted content your ISP will give you a warning, if you do it again they have to disconnect you and you could face legal action.

From reading some articles it turns out it also requires server owners to actively scan their servers for copyrighted content and if found in possession of CC sites can be shut down and legal action taken.

I thought some ISP's were doing this already tbh. My action plan is to just go nuts, wait for a letter and then proxy up for downloads.

Download torrents where ever, then use public wi-fi to download. Obv this is only really practical if you work somewhere with wi-fi or regularly stay in hotels.
