Most people lack the critical thinking to look at how ridiculous their arguments are. I was on a semi-formal dinner party early this year and there was this old psychiatrist fuck talking about social issues and what not. How worse this or that mental illness has become, mixing it up with grand morality of "understanding" and abstract nonsense. I was with a girl at a time, and had no long term involvement with anyone in the group (it was her event), and wanting to impress her and have fun with this buffoon I challenged his him.

I purposely made him acknowledge that mental illnesses were objective and based on science. Then broke him down, pointing out that there are never any scientific analysis from the lab, its all decided based on rhetorical persuasion. Just by asking him what were the basis of a mental illness, he eventually agreed it was based on societies norms and what it deems acceptable. Then, it was easy to point out that since cultures change, and this norms change, Metal illness is subjective on the views of the public at large and the so called mind doctor analyzing it.

That's it on a nut shell. I really shut him up with I pointed out that homosexuality was only taken out as a mental illness when the political movement for their so called gay rights took off. Needless to say that sealed the deal with the bitch.
