Thought there needed to be another place for me to rant. So here goes "The Pointless Thread" where we can discuss things that really have no purpose in existing. (This thread possibly being one of them)



Crossbows



What the fuck is the point in crossbows? If you want to shoot things, use a gun. If you want to take up a sport use a bow.



Pet superior beings



What is the point in superior beings? What do they do that is so beneficial that its worth cleaning out shit from a tray for 10 years. superior beings do not give a fuck about you, not like a dog which is a loyal animal, superior beings couldn't give a shit if you dropped dead. So why do we own them?




Ethical Vegetarians



The epitome of annoying. It pisses me off everytime I here someone moan about how "its inhumane to eat meat" or how "the animals suffer". When in the history of human existance did we start giving a fuck about how our food is treated? Sure if you don't like the taste of meat don't eat it, but don't complain about how its "unethical". Animals eat animals, thats life.




The Easter Bunny



Why is a rabbit the symbol of easter? I don't get it, nor have I bothered to wikipedia it. Im not complaining about this one but it just seems odd.

What does he do? Why do we seem to love him?

When they were invented, it took the nobles YEARS to adjust. They refused to face reality and continued living in their romantic illusions - they still went on rushing into battle with their heavy armor, thinking nothing can hit them... well crossbows could. One shot - and one knight in full armor down. That fucking simple. Bows couldn't, but crossbows could, bitches.

But I understand your frustration. You must think - "but now we have guns... and crossbows have only one arrow, that's lame". Well let me stop you right there, modern crossbows have chargers with bolts and they are fully automatic, bitch. And a scope. Fuck yeah.

So a few more fun facts:
- crossbows are used by ninjas because they (both ninjas and crossbows) are fucking awesome and completely silent
- crossbows are used by thieves who need to fire a bolt with a rope attached to it to climb walls and such
- same goes for ninjas who can't fly

Well, I could go on, but I'll let you think about how cool crossbows are on your own, I don't want to spoil everything.

As far as I know Oestra was a Saxon Goddess, the Moon one I think. Oestrogen and Easter are named after her, her major festival in Europe was the Spring Equinox and she was associated with fertility and rebirth, The Hare and the Egg were her symbols. As with Saturnalia/Samhain (Christmas), the christian church appropriated the existing festival and shoe-horned its dogma on top. Easter bunny and Easter egg.
