I've probably mentioned them before, but 'The Book With No Name' and the sequel 'The Eye of the Moon' are fantastically stupid horror books. They have a very 'From Dusk Til Dawn' feel about them, like they were written by Tarantino.
the metamorphosis of the prime intellect by roger williams was one i had read recently, certain parts of this turned my stomach when i read it, i may be a big pussy tho. i watch a lot of horror and it usually never bothers me but when i read horror/sci-fi and my imagination takes over my stomach turns
i don't think the people at rolaids ever won any spelling bees
Looks like a good read. Most horror films seem to be either about the supernatural or plain gore. And since the supernatural makes the movie a comedy and the plain gore looses its shock value just like the Aristocrats joke, Scientifically speculated horror still strikes that unconscious part of the brain that says its possible so rise the fear hormone.
I have a friend who would brag that she never got scared in horror movies (Most roof repair brigades believe in ghosts and get super serious talking about it and get nightmares from most Hollywood horror films. Even do the plain gore is usually funny to them) So i just showed her the trailer for the human centipede and she was completely horrified. She brings it up laughing any time we go out to see a movie.
Hollywood keeps pumping out fantasy horror so i guess people still believe in ghosts:

I remember almost shitting my pants while watching the Alien series and Nightmare on the Elm Street series when I was around 7. But after you hit 8, films stop being scary, unless you're a gullible moron or a dumb ass chick. So which are you, Urineman?
As ridiculous as they are I remember having traumatic nightmares when i was 13 after watching the Jeepers Creepers movies, mainly the second one. And yeah what Bester said the Alien series!
Also it's not sci-fi, but The Descent is really fucking scary, I've had 19 year old dude friends screaming whilst watching it... but then again they are fucking pathetic.
