Drunk driving, What are your rules?

When I lived in the Sharia land I would never have dreamt of driving drunk, the penalties there are so draconian.

In this sleepy little corner of the UAE though..... The police seem to, if not actively encourage the practice, they don't bother to enforce the law. A friend of mine was so drunk he couldn't get the key into the car door, two coppers (police officers, for the septics) drove him home and then came in for a few shots of vodka. Ex pats who have accidents (where no injury or major carnage is involved) are invariably told to go home and report the accident in the morning.

I woke up one morning, after a heavy night and thought to myself, where have you left the car? Only to look out of the window to see it parked neatly on the drive. I felt fairly ashamed that I had no recollection of driving it home at all.

Ill drive a car high but I wont drive a bike. I wont drive anything drunk. Its just dumb. You get caught driving drunk here and you go to jail. No questions asked. The town where I grew up had a bunch of drunks. There was this one old guy youd see driving his bike (cause he lost his license) all over the road. Im surprised he didnt get hit or hit someone himself.

In Florida, I know for sure though, they dont allow it but they dont... not allow it. Drunk driving checkpoints are announced a week in advance- where and when theyll be- so drunks can just take another way home. So unless youre being really bad about it or kill someone, it doesnt really matter.

I'd probably never do it. Though, growing up with an alcoholic father does teach you some things. He always drove slow, took familiar roads and never paid too much attention to the road. He said that the harder you think about it, the worse your driving will be. Worked for him, he never got pulled over, he was a drunk for 30 odd years.

Doesn't the mother have to be the drunk for the baby to have fetal alcohol syndrome?

I’ve only driven drunk twice (I was still pissed from the night before) and I was working with the police at the time so really stupid of me.

I did hear a fact though that more people die from alcohol poisoning or being involved in a regular accident than dyeing in a drink driving accident.

I've actually been told by cops in STL that as long as you're within city limits, they can give a fuck less if you're driving drunk. I guess they're busy with all the nigger people we have shooting each other. Or they're secretly hoping I'll run one over.
